Saving a life.....

One dog at a time.

  • Waggin’ Trails Rescue Foundation rescues companion animals from overcrowded California shelters and abandonment situations and finds them loving forever homes through local placement and through partnerships with like-minded rescue organizations, humane societies and strictly no-kill shelters in neighboring states and western Canada where shelter overcrowding is less prevalent and good homes are readily available.

The problem of homeless animals in California continues to worsen.  We have been called to act and to help the ever-rising population of animals who beg for rescue.  In an effort to help, we have been working to rehome animals locally and with out-of-state rescues to transport animals to areas such as Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and Western Canada where shelters are less impacted and these animals are readily adopted.  We partner with organizations sharing our rescue philosophy and procedures that speak to a high standard in order to ensure these worthy animals are placed in excellent homes.  In order to save even more animals, we are continuously searching for new places that they may soon call home.

Happy Tails

Here is one happy pup....

One of our adopted rescues loving his new dad

Some of the dogs featured in this video came from shelters in the California Central Valley.  These are open air shelters with no human traffic.  The only way out for these dogs is a rescue organization.  Waggin’ Trails Rescue Foundation takes approximately 50 of these poor unwanted creatures per month to amazing like rescues in Washington State and Calgary, Canada.  They will all be adopted in amazing homes and are able to live a happy life with their new human families.

Make a donation and save a dog's life.

Your donation helps cover the costs required to get them on the transport and helps keep our transport bus operating!!  THANK YOIU.

We need your help!

100% of your donations are used to rescue dogs in imminent danger.  We spay/neuter and vaccinate every dog prior to re-homing them.   Often times additional vet care is needed prior to adoption.  Waggin’ Trails Rescue Foundation stands ready to help.

In addition to your kind donations, please attend one or all of our events throughout the year.

Remember, all your donations make dreams come true for many pups in shelters waiting to be euthanized.  Every home deserves a dog and every dog deserves a good home.  It’s a win win for everyone.

A note from Pickles new family:

Pickles is doing great. He is such an great little dog. We did not change his name. He is fitting in great. He is getting along good with our other dog Pebbles who is totally blind.

We are very happy with the addition of Pickles to our family since the loss of our other dog Benny. Pebbles was not doing well after his passing. Pebbles is now eating and playing again even with her recent loss of eye sight. Pickles has added greatly to her well being and ours as well.  He is playful and loving. He seems to be very happy.

A note from Izzy's new family:

I changed Izzy’s name to Stormii. She is doing great! Stormii is super affectionate & always wants to be petted (especially on her belly) She loves laying in the sun on the deck & following me around the house everywhere I go. Stormii does a bouncing dance when she sees her canned food treat coming out of the fridge, also when she hears the treat bags.  She is very smart & well behaved. If anyone is thinking about adopting from Pawsitive Match, I would highly recommend to consider giving a home to a dog that is special needs or a senior (or both – like Stormii) They are the best!!! It is very easy to give Stormii her medications. I mix the liquid with canned food & give her the pills in a pill pocket treat. Pawsitive Match give their rescues excellent medical care. Stormii had several medical tests done, surgeries, & was given medications. Thank-you Pawsitive Match for rescuing this California dog. I am very happy that I adopted dog ever.

A note from Clifford's new family:

I changed Cliffords name to Jasper.

I had a DNA test done and it came back as Duck Toller Retreiver Corgi cross.

He is doing well. He is so gentle with my granddaughter it is remarkable.

He has made friends with each of my daughters dogs.

He has quite a personality and everyone who meets him notices what a sweet guy he is.

Thanks for helping me find my boy Jasper

A note from Miranda's new family:

We are all doing really well and Miranda has adjusted wonderfully. She loves to play with the other dogs, gets a ton of affection, loves her toys, and is crazy about walks. We also discovered she likes to chase her siblings around the yard and will spend hours wrestling with them. Miranda is simply amazing and we adore her.
